Children's Information Service
Information Services for Families and Children
Since 1999 the Children and Family Information Service (CFIS), based within the Early Years and Extended Services Team (EYES) at Blackfriars St, has provided information advice and guidance for families and children on a wide variety of subjects from childcare to training.
After becoming a statutory service in 2002 the CIS gained its national Quality Award and has broadened its base to serve the “families” community up to 14 years of age. However within recent and proposed legislation (Childcare Act 2006) the importance of up to date, accurate and timely information for families and children has been further highlighted and the service extends further to assist 0- 19 year olds.
The CFIS is therefore looking again to extend its raft of information, which can be obtained by parents by calling its Helpline or calling at the open door at Blackfriars. Here is where we can assist partners both from within and outside of the CYPD. If your service needs to be promoted to families and children, if you have events we can publicise for you in the EYES Training News or Newsletter, if we can distribute leaflets of other information for you to customers when they call, let us know and we will do all we can to help. Our Helpline is available to all from 8-45am until 5-15pm (as is our Reception area) and we speak with up to 9000 customers annually, as well as local childcare, training and partner service providers. If we can help you to help families and children we will.
